WHAT IS GALLOPING GOURMETS?
The Galloping Gourmets event was introduced at the Steeplechase in 2004 with five judges from a variety of culinary backgrounds blind tasting 10 chefs' signature dishes which were paired with wines supplied by Georgia Crown. Chef David Rushing of Meritage Café in Columbus won first place. Following the judging, steeplechase patrons who had purchased the Galloping Gourmets ticket were allowed to enter the 60'x 130' festive Horseshoes Tent, taste the delectables and experience the wine tasting.
THIS YEAR'S GALLOPING GOURMETS
This year's Galloping Gourmets event will again be held Race Day in the Horseshoes Tent. Chefs will arrive early in the morning to set up their area and prepare their signature dishes. As last year, there will be five judges blind-tasting the signature dishes between 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Jamie Keating of River Mill Event Centre in Columbus, Georgia will be returning as head judge. No steeplechase patrons are allowed in the tent during the judging process. Galloping Gourmets opens to Steeplechase patrons at 11:30 a.m. and closes at 1:00 p.m.
WHO ATTENDS?
Anyone may purchase a Galloping Gourmet ticket for $20 along with their Steeplechase ticket. As chefs prepare for 300, there are a limited number of tickets sold in advance of the Race. No tickets will be sold at the site. Steeplechase patrons may purchase tickets on our website or through the Steeplechase office (706-324-6252). Galloping Gourmets tickets are mailed mid-October, along with your Steeplechase ticket package.
